Thanks to five try feast by winger Craig Pheiffer, Hammies-“Seccies” have gone top of the SLA – 2!
After scoring a hat-trick against Primrose a week ago, Craig Pheiffer was once again in great form as he scored five tries in an emphatic home win against UWC 2nd side. He has now scored 40 points (8 tries) in two outings and is only 8 points behind our goal-kicker, Lohan Lubbe who has scored 1 try, 20 conversions and 1 penalty in three league matches.
Fielding only three changes from the recent away win at Primrose, Hammies – “Seccies” completely destroyed UWC 83 – 0 in a fantastic first half display of running rugby. Leading 50 – 0 at half time, Hammies – “Seccies” continue to dominate the game by running in a total of thirteen tries in the match.
With the pack providing good secure ball, the backs turned on the style by scoring eleven of the 13 tries which emphasises the culture of attacking running rugby that is currently played at Hamilton SP RFC. Hammies – “Seccies” have now after three games scored a total of 28 tries of which the backline players have scored 20 of these tries.
With three from three, Hammies – “Seccies” have moved to first place on the log with a superior point scored difference ahead of the only other unbeaten teams in the league, False Bay and UCT. Let’s stay on top – HAMMIES!
