Seccies continue to build their season

After a good win against Brackenfell two weeks ago the Seccies were looking to build on that performance. We had spoken during the week that we needed to be more clinical in our execution of plays and ensure that the pressure that we built was turned into points.

This had been an issue for us over the two league games played so far.

The players responded well to the talk during the week and we put NNK under pressure from the start. The forwards set the platform early in the match, and gave us great front foot ball to play from. The set plays were clinical and this lead to 4 tries from lineouts and scrums.

There were some very encouraging signs that our expansive game plan is starting to click. With plenty of interplay between the backs and the forwards.
After the halftime break the forwards scored another try from a lineout drive. We had built up a comfortable lead and instruction was given from the bench to start spreading the ball.
With the forwards setting up the platform for the backs to be expansive we scored a further 5 tries.

It was a good team performance with a few stand out players on the day.

In the forwards Grant Muller looks like he is finding his true form after coming back from injury.

In the backs Morgan Newman is showing the class that has got two Caps against the British and Irish Lions.

But the man of the match went to Gareth Rowe for a fantastic performance in defence and on attack.

Gareth Rowe on attack against NNK

Full Time: Hammies 58-12 NNK

We have another break this week due to the long weekend and resume the League on the 6th May against newly promoted Unimil.
