The Dynamiters were greeted with favorable home ground conditions upon arrival to the club and the boys were well spirited despite some drastic changes to the starting lineup after Vice Captain, Waldo Smit, coming down with flu leaving him no choice but to relinquish his starting position. The tuna must have gone off the bite, because a well-received Mark Felgate, very quickly pulled his boat up the slip and headed down to the club to fill in on the bench. Ryan Povey rushing from the airport to fall in at his usual position at 6, saw Shaun back in at lock and Petri move to 8th man for the starting 15. Full Report
The day had finally arrived! It was the Dynamiter 4ths’ first game of the season, playing against another new entrant to the Reserve League, the Pollsmoor 1sts.
Now we’ll admit that there were some well-founded concerns about this new team. We were anxious to find out if we were playing the prison staff or some of Matt Scarlett’s dodgy family that were allowed out on good behaviour. To our relief, the Pollsmoor side were made up of staff and friends from neighbouring farms, a real bunch a stand up gents.

The first outing for the newly formed Dynamiter 4ths took the form of a preseason friendly against a British touring team, the Nomads. Click here for more info on the Nomads.
The boys had been itching for their first bit of contact, especially the men in the forwards, comprising mainly of grade A Dutch beef. With a completely new side, we had no idea what to expect in terms of who would flare in certain positions and who would see themselves eating a mud pie on the bench the following week. The game was set to kick-off at 7.30pm however the Nomads were apparently distracted by cheap beer and loose locals at their hotel.
