Player Profile: Mncedisi Joni

Mikey has been at Hammies for 5 years, joining us in 2012. Schooled at IQhayiya Senior Secondary School the hard working flanker has also played for Blue Jets as well as Stellenbosch U19

“Playing Sevens in Malaysia for  Stellenbosch Under 19”

Rugby Journey:
“Ever since i started playing rugby at high school I always wanted to play at a  higher level, like Stormers and Springboks. I have been in few trials and played in Legends Cup tournament for Juniors at school.”

Mikey has had an incredible journey with Hammies in the past few seasons and has grown immensely as a player. He is a senior and vital part of the 3rd XV and slips seamlessly into the 2nds when needed.

Mike Joni is hard working flanker that enjoys the physical side of the game. A good defender at close quarters and strong ball carrier. Mike has a high work rate at ruck time and is always prepared to do the dirty work for which ever team he is selected. Mike is a regular stand out forward and continues to grow as a player at Hammies with consistent  performances each week. – Barry Herbert 3rd Team Manager

Hamilton stays on Top!

Four games in the SLA season and Hamilton SP-RFC are the front-runners after a convincing home win against newcomers Union-Milnerton RFC this past Saturday.

Seccies ruthless as UniMil lose 1st game

After a good win against NNK two weeks ago and another break between game we face the unbeaten Unimil.

Joni and Poleman star in 3rds win

Hammies 3rds were made to work hard for a bonus point win at home on Saturday. Newly promoted Uni Mil made the short trip down the West Coast road and arrived with plenty of intent. Cooler but near perfect weather for rugby suited both sides.  Continue reading Joni and Poleman star in 3rds win

Dynamiter 4ths move 3rd on the log after win

The match was set to kick off at 14h30 at Pollsmoor sports field and the Dynamiters had a great warm-up session leading up to the match, the lads were focused and switched on.

During the warm up, Che Arenz (hooker) seemed to have been sniped by one of the prison guards and went down with a calf injury ruling him out of the match with Dan Nel taking over at hooker. To add to the confusion, kick off was delayed as the hosts were running late. Discussions between the referee, Jon Friday (Coach) and Ismail Jattiem (Captain) resulted in an agreement to kick the match off at 15h00 instead..

Seccies continue to build their season

After a good win against Brackenfell two weeks ago the Seccies were looking to build on that performance. We had spoken during the week that we needed to be more clinical in our execution of plays and ensure that the pressure that we built was turned into points.
