2009 was the last time Hamilton SP-RFC beat UCT at the Green Mile when Alshaun Bock scored the winning try in the far corner in the last move of the game. After having to recover from our first loss to Stellenbosch on the Saturday our turn around time to face UCT was 3 days which proved to be our down fall as we fell away in the second half at the Green Mile on Wednesday night.
After leading 7-0 at half time the students opened up the game and capitalised on a yellow card received and exploited our defence scoring 2 tries in the process as the they raced to a 21 -7 lead with time running running out.
We managed to pull one try back but a penalty by UCT ruled out any potential bonus points as we went down 24-14
Not a great day the office as we let ourselves down and effectively lost touch with the possibility of winning the league.

No season could ever really get underway without a few friendlies as the squads and combinations are tested ahead of the opening day of competition.
