Solid away win puts Hammies back on Top!

The loss of Winger, Brandon Asher-Wood and Fullback; Marlo Weich who have both joined the SA Rugby 7’s Academy and the SWD Eagles respectively during this past week did not place any damper on the well-drilled Hamilton outfit.

Weich continues his scintillating form…

After returning from a short international tour to Georgia with the WP Rugby Academy – Fullback, Marlo Weich continued his excellent form by scoring no fewer than four tries for Hamilton SP-RFC in their big 55 – 6 away at Primrose on Saturday. Amazingly Marlo Weich also scored all five of the WP Academy tries in there three match series against the Georgian u/20 team who are preparing to participate and host the Under 20 – Rugby World Cup. Four games in the SLA season and Hamilton SP-RFC are the front-runners after a convincing home win against newcomers Union-Milnerton RFC this past Saturday.

Hamilton power to victory in the 140th Derby

Match day three in the Hamilton SP-RFC preseason preparations continued with a powerful victory against Villager in the 140th Derby Day match and in doing so retained the “Friendship” trophy.

Villager RFC did their level best to retain possession from numerous pick and ruck movements throughout the game by starving possession from the much fancied Hamilton outfit. Unfortunately they were constantly outplayed and struggled to cross the advantage line. With this tactic, they often lost possession and were punished by the terrific running game Hamilton’s produced in match. 1st XV win at Florida Park with the fightback of the season

As anticipated the trip out to Florida Park to face a resurgent Tygerberg was as challenging as expected.

Our match preparation had gone according to plan, we had made a number of changes in the lead up which contributed towards our cumbersome start to the match.
